Often the question is asked of conservatives and libertarians; "Why are you so distrustful of the government?"

I want to pose the question to the more authoritarian members here (Left wingers, socialists, modern day liberals), why do you trust government? What has an organization run by a bunch of sleazy, lying snakes (politicians and lawyers) ever done to warrant being considered as trustworthy?

Trustworthy in that you trust them to make decisions about your healthcare.
Trustworthy in that you trust them with weapons, and support their attempts to disarm their civilians. Why would you trust an organization so corrupt with a monopoly on guns?

Politicians are about the most untrustworthy people in the world, and have ever been regarded as such. They are the cockroaches of the human race. Filthy, slimy, blackguards the lot of them. Yet they have control of the government.

The question from this individual, why on earth would you put any trust in government knowing that it is controlled by these vermin? Are you insane?

Because we have a choice of who's in it; unlike the private sector - including the Federal Reserve (which I don't trust).

No government = no laws, no justice system, no schools, no police, no prisons, no social security, no medicare, no unemployment benefits, no FEMA, no bank regulations, no consumer protection, no food and drug administration, etc.

The alternative is to trust huge insurance corporations with my healthcare, and to trust the military-industrial complex with weapons. And rednecks whose dogs are so miserable and abused, that they bark all night.

What you fail to realize is that most politicians have worked for or have portfolios with corporations. You have gone to great lengths to polarize we the people that I cannot take this post seriously.

Why don't we start with a much clearer and more honest definition of "liberals" instead of this us versus them mentality?

OK fool, me first: First I consider myself a progressive not a liberal.

It's not that I trust our Gov't, but I accept it, and think it's track record is far far better than people like you give it credit for. Afterall, it is the operating system of one of the great nations, no?

Second, it isn't necessary or possible that the Gov't be without warts and without some corruption. For perspective look at modern Brazil, it's a country taking off big time yet the Gov't is corrupt at every turn... this has not stopped its ascendency.

Meanwhile conservatives only have one platform, anti-government/pro big business. This lazy simplicity would doom any nation. Running a huge complex nation is much too big for small minds to fathom; it's easier and feels good for conservatives to just dismiss anything they don't know about and hide behind some contrived outrage.

And it's lazy of you to slam ALL politicians as vermin and filth. By your reasoning, wouldn't all Generals and Admirals, etc. in the military be the same? Police Chiefs, Fire Chiefs, hell, anyone with some power (except the pure as snow Corporate Execs who rape the earth and the economy to put extra millions in their accounts).

Finally, all the nations best able to endure the daunting challenges of a future without cheap energy, with climate catastrophies, with population based issues, awful pollution, etc. etc. are big government nations.

So as long as you've chosen the cockroach, it doesn't matter that it's still a cockroach, because it's your cockroach. I see, I think.

And who do you think gave the Fed ( a private entity) power over all of us?

Good point, which is why I trust neither. But must it be either or?
