The incident, while not unheard of, certainly raised those same questions in my mind. And I have yet to see a news report cast any light on the security issue.

Whit same ease he entered the land gear, at New York Airport, someone could put a bomb too. Where is the security?

Airlines and security are incompatible. Airlines and harassing innocent passengers provides the illusion of security and that is all that counts. Illusion trumps fact.

You have to wonder how a guy can be both smart enough to get up in there, yet stupid enough to get up in there.

The articles I found say that it gets down to about 58 below zero in the landing gear bay, and that this guy was just wearing jeans and a flannel shirt. Not much question what's going to happen...

Makes me wonder if they'll ever identify the guy and/or come up with any reason why he was in there.
