I asked you about your town.
I mentioned nothing about statistics.
To be so 'civilized moderate" you sure exhibit certain aspects in your posts that seem a bit outside of that classification at times.

A crack in the facade......

A burger isn't going to impair your ability to drive, dramatically alter your behavior, or cause you to do something you might regret.

Not really the same thing.

Ask somebody on a diet if they regret eating billions of empty calories, and if their obesity has altered their behavior.

The obesity rate in the US is double that of Canada. The Canadian lifestyle is pretty much the same as ours, except that junk food points of sale are spread a lot thinner in Canada. They exist, but they are not institutionalized like they are here. The per-capita density of McDonalds in Canada is almost exactly the same as the US (about 1 per 20,000 people), but they have fewer competitors.

So? NO ONE forces them to eat like that! There are people who do know how to eat, just like there are people who can smoke a little weed occasionallly.
You may not believe it, but some of the hardest working and happy people I know sometimes end their day with a dubie and sometimes eat fast food....this hasn't altered their behavior. If annything, it takes away their stress and they are happy and well adjusted peeps!

Tell that to the lady that rear ended my trailblazer because her burger wrapper was in her way. Thankfully the tri-ball was on the back and she needed a new bumper.

So then it DOES alter their behavior and state of mind, albeit not necessarily in a negative way.

So, saying pot is a gateway drug, is Mcdonalds the gateway food to arbys? lol

I think dumping on poor Ronald McDonald is excessive. As was stated in the thread regarding eating beef, I think moderation is the key here and that is controlled by the parents, not Ronald. And maybe I'm just weird here, but I think there is at least SOME value in children being able to go somewhere that is fun for them (and maybe that includes Ronald's smiling face!) Again, it is probably not wise to have McDonald's as a steady diet, but as a treat once in awhile? I don't see an issue with it.
By the way, it isn't only Ronald that entices kids there, it is also the happy meals with a toy and the playground. They are obviously marketing to the children, but I don't see an issue there overall.
