Organic actually meant derived from carbon which really isn't necessary for deodorant (of course it's come to mean more from a food perspective.
I assume you mean natural or not derived from petroleum (an organic compound actually).

Crystal is - its just dissolved alum. There are Toms of Maine deodorants too.

I use the Crystal, and am very happy with it. I found it on a bottom shelf at the local Meijer's store.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but if you quit antiperspirants/deodorants cold turkey you will only experience "spontaneous body odor" for a month or so. You're going to smell after a workout no matter what, but your body will get to the point that you are not emitting a noticeable odor as you go about your daily grind so long as you bathe daily.

I don't mind experiencing "spontaneous body odor" but the people around me certainly do. I suggest trying baking soda powder and an alcohol wash. The soda breaks down odor chemicals and the alcohol kills the bacteria that create most of the obnoxious odors.

Origins has a great deodorant - Totally Pure Deodorant. The smell takes a bit of getting used to, but it fades pretty quickly.

I had a 90 year old lady tell me they used baking soda for odor. They would make it into a paste and put in those "vital" areas. I tried it but overtime it dried out the sensitive skin under my arm that I was itching through the night... I looked like a monkey . So I combined 50% cornstarch to the baking soda and a couple of drops little tea tree oil into a small container and topped it with water so it's ready every morning; worked out great...dirt cheap too !!!!

When you say "organic" does that mean to you made from living carbon/hydrogen organisms without the use of non organic chemicals and pesticides, etc?

I don't think there is anything much less reactive with your body and rubbing a little aluminum zirconium on your pits. I can't imagine how it could be better to use something that would be readily absorbed into the bloodstream like most "organic" compounds would.
