FYI ya'll:

Map of the Global Status of Commercialized GM Crops | Europabio

Doesn't it look like there are more GM crop plantings worldwide than less like some people allude to?

Isn't it funny, almost a year after the OP, five decades since the introduction of GM crops and yet there STILL hasn't been one post in this thread nor are there any headlines anywhere in the world by accredited news sources documenting the illnesses of vast numbers of people sickened/killed by GM crops?

Yet many millions eat foods and have eaten foods for decades from GM crops daily. There has been two and sometimes three (African) generations of people who have eaten GM foods and as of now STILL no human genetic mutations, diseases or sicknesses linked to GMO's (other than unfounded claims by a miniscule number of human beings).....

Really makes one wonder about the gullibility and baseless phobia's of people doesn't it?

It's really sad that the modern world is ruled by tort lawyers and the courts, that people sue for the stupidest of reasons...

Contamination of personal property and loss of income/livelihood is a "stupid reason"?!?

Contamination: the presence of a minor and unwanted constituent (contaminant) in a material, in a physical body, in the natural environment, at a workplace, etc.

(proven danger or safety is not necessary - it simply has to be unwanted)

The EU cannot grow enough food or feed to sustain its own population using conventional agriculture, so banning the growth of GM crops comes at a great expense. There is no rational scientific reason for importing GM foods from abroad when the same plants could be grown at home, so why are these food crops not flourishing in Europe’s rich agricultural lands.

Unfortunately, the reason is political expediency.

I can't speak to every country in the EU, but I know for a fact that food self-sufficiency is a government mandate in the UK since WWII. The diet may "suffer" from a lack of modern variety if imports ceased, but the residents would still have plenty to eat to avoid starvation and malnutrition... only using current & traditional farming practices and seed stock.

You constantly miss the my main point.... The miniscule minority always seems to have some type of issue with anything relating to GM/GMO's and will use any excuse to tie up Fedeal courts with ridiculous and ludicrous lawsuits....

I don't know how many times I have to say this in this forum:

I guess you missed these *up-to-date* articles:

'UK should use GM crops' says Environment Secretary

CBBC Newsround - 'UK should use GM crops' says Environment Secretary

Quote:
The Environment Secretary Owen Paterson warned that the UK and Europe risk being left behind as the rest of the world begins to accept genetically modified food.

He claims GM products are even safer than conventional food - and says "emotion" rather than "evidence" is putting people off them.

Last year about 170 million hectares of GM crops were cultivated in 28 countries. Apart from the US, the world's leading growers are Brazil, Argentina, Canada and India.

But across the whole of the EU, only one GM plant is grown commercially.
BBC News - GM food: Paterson warns UK risks being 'left behind'

Quote:
Paterson has called GM "a safe, proven and beneficial innovation", which above all provides effective ways to increase crop yields, reduce fertilizer use, improve the efficiency of agricultural production and reduce post-harvest losses.
http://rt.com/news/uk-gmo-industry-safe-016/

Even the UK is starting to realize their anti-GM stance is backwards thinking and wrong....

Who cares that millions won't starve and billions of hectares of crops will be saved because of GM crops just as long as the worldwide paranoid anti-GM gaggle gets their lying deceitful unsubstantiated way...

Default GMOs the ANTI-FOOD of modern society.

“Since the advent of biotechnology, there have been a number of claims from anti-biotechnology activists that genetically modified (GM) crops don’t increase yields. Some have claimed that GM crops actually have lower yields than non-GM crops… GM crops generally have higher yields due to both breeding and biotechnology.”

Seriously? Then why has EVERY country on the planet banned GMOs?
Why has Oregon banned the killer bee pesticide?
Why do we demand LABELING of GMO products?
Why has AUTISM rates in children SKY-ROCKETED?

Why do we need GMO technology when there are farmers out of work and LAND going unused?

Is it possible it is all a lie?

They lied?

Every country on the planet banned GMO'S? WE demand labels? Autism? LMAO

This is just another example of why your web site Occupy Monsanto is one of the most ludicrous BS websites on the Internet...

Let me refresh your memory (sources quite a bit more believable than Occupy Monsanto)

http://www.europabio.org/news/map-gl...lized-gm-crops

Genetic engineering - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Executive Summary: Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops: 2011 - ISAAA Brief 43-2011 | ISAAA.org

Is it possible that Occupy Monsanto lies?

Tell me something zthatz, just where in the 2012 CDC report does say that GMO's are a cause of autism?

Link is to the CDC PDF file:

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/im...6103.ebook.pdf

Of course I don't expect any answers, a rebuttal or ACCREDITED FACTS from you, if anything just more URL's to phobic anti-GM rantings.

BTW zthatz. you know that web site is nothing more that Fritz Kreiss's personal website for his hysterical rantings don't you?

Default UK pushes Europe to embrace GM crops

Reality sets in....

Quote:
Britain is to push the European Union to relax restrictions on the licensing of genetically modified crops for human consumption amid growing scientific evidence that they are safe, and surveys showing they are supported by farmers.

The move comes as 61 per cent of UK farmers now say they would like to grow GM crops after a disastrous 12-month cycle of poor weather that is expected significantly to reduce harvest yields. Senior government officials said that ministers are increasingly concerned that the potential moral and ethical benefits of GM are being ignored by costly and bureaucratic licensing regulations.
Another interesting fact that was mentioned in this article:

Quote:
With one-twelfth of global arable land under GM cultivation they have privately warned that Britain faces being left behind in an important technology that has the potential to improve crop yields, help the UK’s agricultural industry and provide benefits to human health through vitamin fortification.
