It doesn't take a rocket nor nuclear scientist to see your phobia against nuclear reactors is totally groundless...
Nor could you confirm the OP's fears about nuclear energy with any accredited scientific data other than "I know about nuclear energy so ya'll are stupid to say anything to dispute me"
Have a nice day....
I have no phobia, I slept peacefully for several years within a few feet of a nuclear reactor. The difference between us if that you appear to see Popular Science as a textbook. As far as the OP's fears about radiation from an operating nuclear reactor, I think I've dismissed that as a no problem. What can't be dismissed is the vulnerability of many legacy reactors to Fukushima style accidents. I don't lose much sleep over that, but it's undeniably true.
Which is why the USA continues to build so many of them every year
There's a big difference between the Defense Department building a weapon system and a civilian decision based upon profit potential. Civilian nuclear is too expensive to survive outside a cocoon of massive government government subsidies.

Free country you can believe what you want...
FACT: France has mostly Gen1 reactors that have been in constant operation for over 50 years supplying 78% of that countries power...
I am sure that the OP takes great comfort in your opinion knowing you are such an expert in land-based nuclear reactors...

Actually the bulk of France's reactors are clones of the Westinghouse 3 and 4 loop reactors installed in the US. Many are essentially identical to the South Texas Generating Station. These are are all late second and third generation plants. While much safer than 1st generation reactors, claiming that 35 years (let's a least come close to factual information) of operation demonstrates safety seems absolutely silly given our recent experience at Fukushima, which also had decades of uneventful operation prior to the revelation that their design was fundamentally unsafe. BTW there are about two dozen GE Mark-I reactors in the United States. These have the many of the same design flaws of Fukushima.
