My biggest fear concerning Nuclear power is that the tin foil hat wearer's and emotional thinkers in this country will overwelm the logical thinkers and kill our only real chance to get off of fossil fuels, by building new modern plants here in America.
That's news to the energy world, new breakthrough?
No same old problem that nuclear has had all over the western world. You can't build one for anything close to the projected cost. See the experience with Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant. Meanwhile the cost of wind and solar are committed to in advance and that price is dropping rapidly.

Nuclear power plants could be built for a reasonable price if you keep out the unions. Chose one modern design and build 20,30,50 of them, look at the way France has done it.
Look don't get me wrong I love wind and solar but there's no way they can supply us with the demand we need now or in the future, I wish it could but it cannot.

If wishes were horses. There have been some nuclear plants built with open shop labor. One that I remember couldn't even be started up the construction was so shoddy. See Zimmer.
