I rented a house on the down wind side of the waste-water plant of a city of over 50,000 and I have lived closely by a pig farm/starch factory. I do know what smell is. I watch out for anything that might be by where I am moving. The second worse is by a major freeway for sound and smell.

Yes and I currently do... No smell, unless a tank has failed. We get a lot of rain down here in South Florida too. I think that is has to do with the type of ground the drain fields are in. We have decent drainage through limestone and coral rock.

Not sure what you mean by "older tanks", but mine is over 30 years old and some are older than mine.

I second the living near a highway or even a major road. I put my time in fairly close to an airport and on a major road. I will avoid doing that again at all costs. I won't say never, because in life, you never know what can happen.

If its me, i wouldn't live near a wastewater treatment. for your daughter's health you should start looking for a new apartment now. staying longer there is not a good idea. god luck.
