A company called Ecovative Design is in the final stages of testing their new Green Insulation made of Mushrooms and Agriculture Waste called ''Greensulate'' instead of using the Standard Pink Fiberglass now used in most houses. They expect this to be in use by early 2010 for home owners who want Green Insulation in their homes.

There are several Green insulation products available including insulating structural panels made of compressed wheat and other grain straw. The simplest Green insulation is a straw bale house. Thick wall adobe works because of the heat storage and delay characteristics of heavy walls. Pumice walls combine both.
So how long will it take the squirls to rathole a whole wall worht of mushrooms? The squirls here are pretty good, though small. I think their timeline may be a bit optomistic.
Then how will you treat for fire and mold etc, how long will the treatments last?
