I love my clothesline. I use my dryer for most things (even though it's less ecologically sound than the clotheslines), but for some things (most things, if you get right down to it), the fresh air and sunshine do a much better job.

As for composting - where I live, there are no regulations that would prohibit it. And, that is a good thing. However, due to the various "critters" that are in my area, I don't dare compost.
"Clothes lines are unsightly - and unnecessary."

You live out in the middle of no where, why would you care if someone had one?

Because a) I do drive through other areas and b) I appreciate those who live in higher density areas finding clothes lines being unsightly

Clothes lines, while unsightly should NOT be prohibited... nor should composting if done correctly.

What if you could not afford a dryer, or chose not to?!!?

What kind of critters?

What's green about using energy unnecessarily to dry clothes? It's odd that someone on a green living forum would be anti-green methods.

Better the "unsightly" clotheslines than the suffocating dryer fumes (the toxic smell from dryer vents suffocates me).

I've not experienced such fumes

In fact - our electric dryer does not seem to put out any fumes

Whatever you want to call the poison coming from a dryer vent.
