The corn ethanol was a political gift to the big agribusiness industry and had nothing to do, except as an excuse for government subsidy, with being an efficient alternate source of automotive fuel. It is a simple gift from the Republicans to their business constituents in the RED states.

My state talks up biofuel so much and all I do is just shake my head.
Here we get a lot of sunshine so we should be investing our energy and money into solar power.
Instead there are people rallying for a new coal plant.

we shouldn't be investing anyone else's money into anything. we should get the bureaucrats out of the way of the individuals who have awesome ideas and are prepared to put their money where their mouths are. i have included a link. watch the video then think of the gargantuan levels of red tape you'ld have to go through to install such a system. don't believe me, read the next link i've included.
