I'm more concerned about the coming water shortage then I am a few paper plates.. They predict there will be a major shortage here in Texas in the next 20 years...But that's off topic.

I bet we could roll them into little logs and use them for fire wood in the fireplace.

That would be double the savings... Save trees, and save on the heating the bill.

But if you didn't use them to begin with there's that many more tree's saved.
And you wouldn't be worried about recycling them.

Would it not be better to use ceramic plates or plates made out of recycled materials than paper plates?
If you feel you must use paper plates, try to buy some that are made of recycled paper.

It just breaks my heart any time I see anyone buy paper towels, Styrofoam cups and plates, and paper plates. Such a waste of money and it certainly hurts the earth.

But I don't think that really has anything to do with there being no trees left in North America if the paper companies did not grow trees on tree farms.
Moderator cut: No insults or personal attacks . The vast majority of the forests in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska are not owned by paper companies but are public lands. Moderator cut: No insults or personal attacks . I'm not necessarily opposed to tree farms, but there are still lots of real forests full of trees not planted by any paper companies in this country. And, if you ask me, I think they're worth protecting.

Whatever happened to using regular ceramic dishes..? These are long-term if taken care of properly. And it'd be better to purchase used dishes from a thrift store (i.e. Goodwill; St. Vincent De Paul's). These can last decades.

Plastic is in NO WAY good, even for heating in the microwave.
