Default Going greener with new products

I am looking to invest in a tankless water heater, new water conserving showerheads and maybe a compost tiolet for one of the commode in the home. I am hoping these products will cut the use of water by at least 40%. Any suggestion, pros and cons on the above products??

Personally, I would not go with a tankless (on demand) water heater. I like hot (really hot) water. My well water comes out of the ground at about 60 degrees and a tankless heater only warms up the water about 30 degrees max. I don't see how I could live with 90 degree water. LOL. Even if your water is much, much warmer it still would not boost it up to the 140 degrees that I have my water heater set at.

Also, we have a lot of minerals in the water. Tankless water heaters get gunked up really easy with minerals. In a high-mineral area, they might only last a couple of years - not long enough to realize a return on your initial investment.

We do use a composting toilet, however, and love it.

Default water savings but what about electricity too?

That sounds wonderful to cut your water bill. What about lights in the home? My husband and I just bought a bunch of LED lights recently. We used to buy the fluorescent lights and since buying the new LED lights our electricity bill has decreased significantly. We used this company called advantageledlighting. They have a website if you are interested in checking out their lighting
