I've heard that's increasingly common in many regions of the country, although I haven't seen any goats in action yet. It's a great idea. The article didn't mention this, but one other benefit would be noise; the noise pollution of mowers and leaf blowers and the like can be hard to take. I'd prefer a herd of goats any day.

One of my favorite things about living in Oakland CA was trying to find where the goats were browsing, pulling over, and watching them for awhile. It was more for fire prevention there.

I"m thinking some U.S. Army base in the south has been using goats for several years. Cut the grass and fertilize it all at the same time! lol

And also, much nicer by-products: goat cheese over fuel residues.

Goats also clear out brush!
They work great on sod roofs too!

Actually this is yet another one of those methods that is hardly a new revelation as if something new. If you look up all the old paintings of olde Europe and the huge estates the aristocracy lived on, you will commonly see several flocks of sheep on the palace pasture grounds. Why ??? Because this is how they kept the grounds in a beautiful manicured condition. This is centuries before the invention of the lawnmower. At best we can say it has been rediscovered.

I think a lot more people should support the various goat businesses. I have been using goat milk for years and would not consider using cow's milk anymore. Check out goat milk vs cow milk and learn the benefits. I just started making ice cream from goat milk that is delicious and healthy. As soon as I can find a yogurt maker I will be making yogurt from goat milk.

This has been going on for many, many years
A friend of mine has a business where she has portable fencing and about 300 boer/nubian crosses and she rents them out to help with ground clearing. The nice things about goats is that there are certain seeds that are not digestible, but if you feed them to goats, they'll poo them out and it's instant fertilizer!
The US Army uses goats for brush removal at a few bases, and I know of a few airports that do the same thing. They can get into places that machinery can't.Plus, they're adorable

And cabrito is delicious if you start to have too many goats. Makes a great chili.
