One house falls into sea, others on verge of collapse, some choose to make the painful move inland

When the citizens of Shishmaref, Alaska, a tiny Inupiat Eskimo village, talk about global warming there's little doubt in their minds that it is occurring. After all, the changing climate is threatening to permanently destroy their community.

Everyone knew about this happening even though most republicans(especially Palin) denied it. Considering this and alternatives fuels instead of oil being used, what did they think was going to happen to a place like Alaska? Why do you think Palin bailed out recently? She wanted someone else to take the criticism when oil prices drop significantly.Alaska depends on oil $$$ and soon enough the state will be hurting.

If I lived back in Alaska I would pray for it to warm up a bit. So there ice cube turns into tropical beachfront property. That not so bad, is it?

Was Greenland worse off when it was really green?

The warming we are seeing today is all part of the interglacial warming period know as the Holocene Warming prriod which started about 12,000 years ago. This warming is expected to last for the next 25,000 years in which the temps could rise to 6-7C over todays temps. The last interglacial warming period was the Eemian Warming period that occurred about 120,000 years ago at its peak, and temps were a 5-6C higher than todays. The concern about this warming is the speed in which it is warming. The earth is going to warm, and there is nothing we can due about this, what we can do is mitigate just how fast it going to warm due to human influence. There is no doubt that the ice will melt and the oceans will rise, this is a natural event, the difference is, we are around to record this event, therefore, it must be our fault.

Oh no, it's getting warmer... woe as me... we might be able to make Canada and Russia more habitable.. along with much of Northern Europe, Iceland, Greenland, etc... that's just horrible. I'm all for warming.. I think we'll have clean energy before it becomes a real problem but personally would love to see the planet 5 degrees warmer on average... it will not effect the tropical areas that much.. it will mostly make the super cold climates warmer.

I'm not going to deny man is causing CO2 levels to rise I just don't see the major problem with some warming.... in any case they whine about it but never propose any solutions, as if US citizens really have to do anything... it's the chinese/indians/etc. that do all the polluting now.
