GE's are still made in China. So are Phillips and Sylvania. That's not necessarily true for their incandescent bulbs. Read the package.

How about this for a lightbulb question. I lived in Thailand for a few years, and there, they use those u shaped fluorecents. They have the modular base or a standard medium screw in base. Why are they not using the Swirly ones? The stores sell mostly Phillips, but the u shaped.

Don't buy incandescent. We already have a shortage of tungsten has it is. Incandescent will mainly go the way of the dinosaur over the next few years. I am starting to see more LEDs in stores in my area. It is just a matter of time before they really go "mainstream." They are supposedly 98% more energy efficient than incandescents.

I'm waiting for LEDs to drop in price, which I believe they will do. But until they do I won't be buying any.

I bought some 13 watt Evolux L.E.D. bulbs that are not too bad for light output but they are about $50 each.

I did say "el cheapos" not "made in China." I have bought GE brand from the big red box and the el cheapos from the big orange box, the GE have outshined (couldn't resist) the el cheapos in every way.

Yes it is but it takes a bunch of us early adopters to drive down the prices so everyone can afford them.

Thank you for your concern and dedication, but I won't buy the things until they're as cheap as regular bulbs.

"Green" isn't as important to me as my limited number of dollars.
