Default Smart water not as green a company as one might think:(

Smart Water’s 20oz bottle weighs 48% more than Aquafina’s 20oz bottle

That's pretty crazy. Using that much more plastic than a competitor seems somewhat backwards thinking in regards to environmentalism.

I came across this info at work since I work for a marketing company that is doing a campaign for Aquafina, I was doing some research for the campaign and came across that.

It seems like a pretty negative practice for such a "enlightened" company and clearly since the number relate to a competitor brand the extra plastic is extraneous.

What do you guys think?

Bottled water, in plastic bottles, is anti-green. Brand doesn't matter.

I'm surprised that nobody seems to notice the obvious.

That's a great argument, but at a point you would think that companies like this would try to attune their business practices as much towards the protection of the environment as possible. A whole 48% extra plastic seems extraneous in the best of cases.

Why aren't they using corn plastics for their bottles?

Omaha - I don't like ethanol fuel very much BUT there are some other really cool things we can do with corn...

Everyone has been told that Hitler flouridated the water in Germany to make the Jews more passive and the German people more open-minded to national socialism.

Right.

We have a huge Cargill plant about 20 miles North of Omaha. Technically, it's considered an ethanol plant. But distilling ethanol is a small fraction of what they do there. Making plastic is another.

I was actually reading about something relating to this on the forums She Knows.

Four tips to treat your water - SheKnows Message Boards

Tap water isn't what it used to be and many are drinking bottled water as another option.
