Hello all,

My wife and I are relocating to to North Carolina next month. We're coming out for our first visit next week to find a home. We're looking in the $260 - $320K range. From the research I've done so far I'm really leaning towards Kernersville. We don't have any children yet, so schools are not a priority. I like Kernersville because it is close to both Greensboro and Winston-Salem. I'm curious if anyone has any input on the neighborhoods in Kernersville. I've listed a few that have homes that we like for sale below -

Authors, Exeter Place, Aaron Place, Oakmont East, Taylor Chase, Wellington Village, Big Mill Junction

We'd like something newer and in a nicer neighborhood. I'm curious about the town as well - restaurants, coffee shops, movie theater, etc.?

We're also considering Clemmons but it looks like for the price range we're shopping in that we can get a little more for our money in Kernersville.

I'm early in my search, but am also looking for a home in the Triad, similar price range - maybe $275-$340k for us.

I don't think Kernersville has as strong a reputation as some other areas. But we like it, and are strongly considering that area to be fairly centrally located (I'll be working in High Point). I don't really know about Clemmons.

One of my favorite neighborhoods so far is the Meadowlands subdivision near Wahlburg (it has a Winston-Salem mailing address). We've put in an offer on a home there, but I'm not confident we'll come to terms. Homes there start around $345k (asking price); we're hoping to get one for about $300k - not sure if that much off of asking price is likely to happen.
