Hi!

I'm from Cleveland, Ohio and have a job interview coming up in early February in Greensboro. I'll only be in the area Sunday and Monday but am wondering what things I should check out? I'm really interested in the job and relocating to the area, so I wasn't sure things like which restaurants I should go to (I don't really want to go out to a place that I could eat at while at home in Cleveland...) or different neighborhoods to look at in terms of getting a feel for what the area is actually like.

Also, the job interview is on N. Church Street so are there any hotel suggestions between there and the airport that I should check out? I'm not looking to spend $100 a night as it's just for a short stay, but I also don't want to stay in a small roach motel!

Thanks for any suggestions!!

What kind of food do you like? I can recommend a killer hole-in-the-wall Mexican eatery. It's definately an unconventional place because the last time I was there a butcher was carrying a whole pig slung over his shoulder out to a car.

Daveatgso: I'm not a hugely picky eater, so anything would be great!

I just don't want to go to a place where it would be weird if I was there eating alone, so nothing too nice, hole in the wall mexican might be good! haha

Whatever you do..don't stay at the Greensboro Inn which is very close to Church Street. It looks pretty decent on their web site, but it is not a safe place to stay. I found this out the hard way. I should have known when the price was only $50 per night.

Here's a review about the place - Best Mexican in Greensboro: Carniceria El Mercadito (http://greensboring.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=10820 - broken link)

It's not a weird place, but you might feel a bit odd going by yourself if you can't speak at least some Spanish.

Check out Natty Greenes on Elm Street for something to eat. Whenever I eat alone I sit at the bar since I don't see any need in taking up a whole table just for myself. You shouldn't look weird doing that. I can't think of any hotels to recommend near Church St. Google maps should help with that. I'm cheap so I always pick the least expensive. Have fun.

Maybe calling a realtor to show you around, they know the areas. After finding out more about what you like they help show you what would most interest you. Be glad to help just email me.

Thanks for all the food recommendations!

The hotels I have been looking at so far are

Quality Inn and Suites Coliseum
Baymont Inn and Suites
Red Roof Inn

Any recommendations on those??
