Boy - seems like when I moved down here almost 15 years ago I very rarely met anyone from NY/NJ - now it seems like every other person I meet is from NJ.

I moved here because I wanted someplace warmer then NJ but not as hot as Fl. I think it is great. Summer is usually pretty hot and humid but the fall is great and winter is certainly warmer and less snowy that NJ.

Shopping is OK - I still miss the variety of stores in places like Paramus and Willowbrook but there is a pretty big mall in W-S and some of the shops like Chico's and Cold Water Creek are finally coming in.

Housing is certainly more affordable then in NJ. And property taxes are much less.

Come for a visit and see if you like it here and can find employment.

Good Luck!

No problem. While your here you may want to drive down Peter's Creek Parkway which turns into Hwy 150 when you hit Davidson County. This is a very fast growing area with many new homes. I don't know what you are looking for but there are many subdivisions including Hidden Creek, Border Creek, and Mallard Landing. Miller's Creek is townhomes. Also, while you are driving around check out Welcome and Arcadia.

Good Luck with the interview and hope you love NC as much as I do.

Hey.. I am also looking in this area for relocation. I do have a friend that moved to W-S 6-7 yrs ago and she loves it. She had family there and that is how she started. She was in High School so she didn't have to worry about housing, jobs, etc... but I do!

I understand the housing is cheaper, but isn't the pay.. and there is a pretty high state income tax, on top of sales tax. In New Hampshire, we don't have either one of those.. I am worried my paycheck will dwindle to nothing.

Any information on climate, pay, etc.. I would love to hear it!
