My wife and I will be going back to Greensboro next month to visit the parents.
I grew up in Greensboro (currently live in the Houston area), so I know a litle something about the area.
However, I know of no great BBQ places to go to in Greensboro.
I took my wife to Stamey's (on Battleground Ave) the last time we visited 2 years ago and she did not care for it too much.
She grew up in TX and swears that TX BBQ is the best on the planet.
I have been trying to change her mind, but she just won't have it.
I already know about Lexington BBQ, but don't want to drive that far just for BBQ because we will not be in town for very long.
Please suggest the best BBQ joint in Greensboro that will absolutely knock her socks off.
You can drive over to Kernersville to Prissy Polly's, where you can get servicable eastern style barbecue. Or you can drive 45 minutes or so to Allen & Son near Chapel Hill for the real thing.

I forget which one has the ketchup. I do NOT like that type of BBQ.
We will be going to Chapel Hill to see the old campus, so we may stop by there and check it out.

Lexington/western style has the ketchup. You want eastern style, which after all is the only real barbecue.
As a native of eastern NC, I have been looking for a good BBQ spot here in town too. I've tried most of the local spots and can honestly say that the closest thing to the original and the BEST place to find it here in Greensboro is actually at "Cook Out." Their BBQ sandwich is the vinegar-based kind and comes complete with coleslaw, Texas Pete, and hushpuppies!
Probably not the ambiance you may be looking for, but the taste is great

I know exactly what you're talking about.
Cook-Out has excellent burgers, milkshakes and BBQ.
Add to that, they are open late.
Not exactly an eat-in experience though.
