I am visiting and would really like to go to the best flea market in town. I have been to some flea markets that are really "up-scale" and want to avoid those so I can find the "authentic" experience--where the real deals and the fun people are. Has anyone been flea marketing in the area? Any suggestions? If it helps, I'm looking for cheap antique dinner plates and old bottles.

Most have really gone away from that. Many of these people have set up small shops in warehouses now. Cooks was a great place several years ago. I think it has gone to the Walmart return store. Junk and fake brands. IMO. Went to Mebane with the wife last year. Wife was saying that people at work said. It was great place. I was not impressed.

The best flea market I have been to in this state is Cooks Flea Market in Winston Salem.
Everything is indoors wide selection of vendors it reminds me of a mall flea market style.

Mall Style ...... Great Words. I remember when it was more open air. Only Indoors. They have become stores with no history.......

Not a flea market person myself, but I know there were several large, popular flea markets along the old US 421 near Wilkesboro. In fact, the traffic problems they caused were part of the reason the new highway was built. I don't know if they are still there, but you might google to see if you find anything about them.

Cooks Flea has gone down the drain. You go in and it like little mexico. And the prices are stupid. I dont even go anymore. And all they sell now is JUNK. And alot of Fake products. They got caught some time ago for fake products being sold in there. It used to be find a deal. Not anymore. Better off buying on ebay.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm still completely torn as to where to go though... definitely not Cooks, but perhaps the Mebane one?
