Hi! We are possibly moving for my DH work. If he gets the job we will have a short time period to move. I have been looking online for apartments. There was some town-homes that looked ok. It says they are located in the Silas Creek Parkway South area. We have 2 very small children and are most concerned about neighborhood safety. Is this a nice area of Winston salem? If not, where should we look. Our budget will be small. I am hoping we can get a place in a nice area even with a small budget.

Thanks for the help!

"Silas Creek Parkway South" is a rather large area, so you'll need to be more specific. Where exactly are you talking about?

Just googled it...it's just off Peter's Creek Parkway, across from Parkland High School. It is a safe area.

That area is becoming very questionable as each year passes. I would say look to the west of W/S instead

Personally, I would not move there. There have been issues in that area. I believe a year or two ago there were idiots that starting shooting at each other at Parkland and ran into those townhouses (tho, I don't know if anyone involved actually lived there). What area is the job? With 2 kids, I'm sure school is a motivating factor. The schools zoned in that area are less than desirable, though you should have the option of school choice. Ardmore is a good option for home rentals and is relatively safe. There are apartments further south on Peters Creek (stay south of Clemmonsville rd) and I think there is a new complex/townhomes on Clemmonsville/Sides rd, but I don't know if they're open yet.

Would have to agree. Do not rent across from the high school. Slum lords bought the property and it has gone down hill since. The ones on Clemmonsville are open. Very Nice.

I stand corrected then. I'm not familiar with this particular property. My earlier comment that the area is safe was referring to that general area around Peter's Creek (Brewer Rd./Clemmonsville Rd. area). While it is a more working class area, it does not have a reputation for being unsafe.

If you have two youngs kids. I would imagine schools are important. You can go to the W-S school website input the address and it will tell you which schools are your choice school.

That area is not what I would call unsafe. Yes they may be nicer areas. Hell rent an apartment in Buena Vista! Sometimes people rent what they can afford. Saying that I would imagine right now you could have your pick of apartments in W-S.

Most poeple will tell you to rent in Clemmons or Lewisville. To me all of Winston Salem is basically ok to live in.
