Default Cheapest braces/dentist in Winston-Salem, NC?

I'm trying to find the cheapest braces possible in Winston-Salem, NC. I'm willing to travel a bit outside if I have to, but I'll be going to school at Wake Forest so I'm not sure how much time I'll have.

I have minor TMJ caused by an underbite (I can align my jaw correctly by flaring it, but I need it to be permanent). I'm currently in Houston, TX and will be leaving next week for NC, so I can't get it treated here.

I have NC Blue Cross/Blue Shield Medical and Dental... but I'm pretty sure braces won't cover them.Thank you!

I am also in need of a "reasonably-priced", but caring dentist - I've little funds, but in dire need of a 'deep cleaning,' as well as taking care of a cavity - (still can't believe I have one) - anyways, if anyone can suggest a dentist who donates their time, and/or knows of a charitable organization for a sliding scale arrangement, I would be very grateful. I've googled as much as I know how on this, but being new to the region, I thought maybe someone may know of something that may not be as "obvious". I, like so many, am in between prof jobs, so it would be a great help - many thanks to everyone!

Ok. Let's not go cheap in sight of a good Dentist or Orthodontist. Your teeth are as important as an eye. Most good ones will work with you and if not they will recommend someone that will fit your needs. I use Dr. Wilkerson (dentist) and have had the great pleasure of Handy & Handy for my son and daughters ortho work. Both are in Winston near Forsyth Hospital off Hawthorne.

Thank you! I checked out Hand & Hand and based on their website they seem like VERY nice people. They also offer payment plans, etc. They've also got a free first-time examination, so at least I'll know what I'll be looking at. Should be pretty easy to bike down there, or even get a cab.

I'll call Handy & Handy today and see what their procedure is for TMJ/TMJD issues.

Thanks again!
