I would start in Winston-Salem and work my way around.

My order would be Clemmons, Davie County, Kernersville, and then Lewisville.

I love Lewisville but the annexation is something I try to steer people from.

Yes, I am alittle confused also...what do you mean annexation?

Is there any areas that either of you think I should definitly not bother looking at in winston salem?

We would like to buy a duplex first, and rent out half of it and live in the other half, until we get used to the area, then decide where we want to buy a big house. Are there any areas in winston salem that have a lot of duplexes or anything like that, that we can take a look at when we get down there.

Also..I am told that your winters are more like our fall...cooler, jackets necessary, but no snow, boots/heavy winter jackets/hats/gloves...remember I am from buffalo! And your summers...how long do they last for? How long can I swim for? Our summers here last from about June-Septemer if we are lucky!
