I'll be taking a day trip from Charlotte to High Point (NC) within the next 2 weeks and am looking for some contemporary or modern furniture stores. I only know about Furnitureland South, but would like to visit some of the smaller stores in 'downtown' High Point. Any suggestions?

I know some will say it is not worth the effort to travel to High Point for furniture; however I'm riding with friends who are going regardless so any recommendations on stores would be helpful. Thanks!

Furnitureland South carries a decent selection of contemporary furniture and as far as I know that is the only place in the triad that has a good selection. Other furniture stores claim to offer contemporary selection but its really straight line traditional. Take a look at Stickley on Elm street, mission heirloom quality furniture sold there, very impressive stuff. If you like I can give you our sales person's number at FLS. The bulk of the stores in downtown High Point are not stores at all, but showrooms that are not open to the general public. On the bright side you won't have to fight crowds in downtown High Point.

thanks for the advice! I will definitely do some research on which stores downtown are open to the public before we get there.

I would never count Stickley furniture as modern design.

try Ambiente .
