Hi--
I grew up in Greensboro - but have only been back on occasional short visits in the past few years. My brother was there this weekend and says major construction is going on on Friendly Avenue - that it looks like they're putting a median in it, and it looked like it was only going to be one lane in each direction. Is that true? Can somebody tell me what they're doing to West Friendly Avenue? Thanks!
A median, yes. I doubt they'd make it just one lane each way though. That would be insane with all the traffic Friendly gets. I would really be surprised.
They said on the news that they're going to wait until we get more rain before they plant trees in the median.
The one section of Friendly is being made to look like the section of Market street thru Sunset Hills, with medians, trees, and turning areas (not just lanes) and the street has been widened to accommodate two lanes on either side.
You know, I have the same problem- I used to take a shortcut off Friendly down by the lake to my office, and now I have to drive down, circle around and then turn onto Keeling.
Hopefully it will be worth all the hassle when they are finished. Whenever they finally do.
