Which is better to teach in Guilford County or Winston-Salem Forsyth county?
I am an elementary EC teacher. Anyone had any experience in either?

I'd say the one that is willing to hire you.
Seriously, is either system hiring?

Good luck.

Yes, and I am already working in one of them, but not sure if I want to stay or switch next school year.

There are two main differences I can think of--first, (as you already know if you're teaching in Guilford or Forsyth) a county may supplement the state salary scale. Forsyth's average supplement is slightly higher than Guilford, but it's very close. The supplements are also position-based, so you may find that a particular position has a higher supplement in Guilford.

The second difference comes down to individual schools. There are precious few very good principals, and there are far more who make you wonder how they ever got a principal's job. If you're lucky enough to work for a good principal, then life is good. Otherwise you may find lots of frustration, especially if you're an EC teacher.

Both systems have been in the local news about making cutbacks, but Guilford's has been huge. I know someone who is already an EC teacher with WS/FCS schools and she is happy with the system and likes her principal. I don't know about Guilford, but she also hasn't seen many cuts to her department and her assistants are not in danger of being laid off.
