Hi there,

My partner and I are house-hunting, and fell in love with the Foxhall neighborhood in west Winston, but sadly we were outbid on the house we liked there. Does anyone know of similar neighborhoods: good schools, homes built from the late 60s on with good sized yards, priced in the low 200s, within 10 miles of downtown?

Or, does anyone live in Foxhall and know of homeowners preparing to sell?

Thanks, Aly

Foxhall is in an area of town that is getting horrible. There are lots of low rent apartments nearby causing more and more crime problems. I would avoid anything near Huntingreen over to Polo. Map the crime.

Sometimes poorly-managed complexes have unusually higher crime rates than the neighborhoods they're located in. The best way to get accurate information about a specific neighborhood is to call the WSPD at 336-771-7700 and ask to speak to an officer about crime info re: a certain neighborhood, apartment complex or even a specific street or address. They post this information online but they're happy to speak to people looking to relocate on the phone to give them any info they need.

Well, we ended up in Town and Country up off of Reynolda anyway. This is a lovely neighborhood!
