I will be attending an event in Greensboro and the GCVB has assigned a room for me at the Park Lane hotel. Does anyone have any opinion on this hotel? I searched online and it appears to be a really old hotel and looks like the area may be a little dodgy.

You must be really picky, it has always looked like a decent enough place, though I have never stayed there. No reason to.
The area is not the crown jewel it once was, but you not need to fear for your life either.

Thanks. Not really picky - just careful. I found two reviews: one that said it was very outdated and desperately needed a rennovation and one that said it was musty smelling (and that a highlight was the gated parking lot).

It does have a nice, well kept exterior. I'm surprise you could find just two reviews.
BTW, there are about a half dozen more motels within walking distance from there.

I did a search and found reviews on Trip Advisor, about 20 comments have been left over the years. It strikes me as odd that most are love/hate with few neutral. One comment left by the manager says it was remodeled but the odor & outdated decor complaints continued to be posted after the alleged remodel.

Wound up staying at the Wingate off of Wendover. It was very acceptable.

The hotels at that interchange are much newer.
