Moving from MD to NC with questions (Charlotte, Greensboro: neighborhood, schools)

Single mom of preschooler interested in feedback from Greensboro residents about living and raising a child (especially young children) in Greensboro. Tell me about the community, schools, working, dating, shopping, etc. We're moving in 6mos so feel free to chat me up. Thanx

I have a 22 month old and there's lots of fun stuff to do here. What specifics do you want?

We're 30 mins from the zoo. Awesome.
We have a Children's Museum. Excellent.
Community will depend on your neighborhood, so see what your Neighborhood Association is like where you may be living.
If you can get a babysitter for friday or saturday nights, there's TONS to do these days- I wish I had as many places to go when I was single! Downtown used to roll up the sidewalks at 5.30 but these days it is booming after hours.
Shopping is good- Four Seasons, Friendly Center, 3 targets... we're about an hour from the Concorde Mills outlet mall and 20 mins from the Burlington outlets, which we love. There's an Ikea opening next year outside Charlotte (about 1.5 hours and sooo worth the trip).
