State troppers frequestly use our driveways to pull over cars and since 2007 have caused about $8,000 worth of damages. After we have requested them to fix the mess, they only fixed their right of way (30 ft), didn't fix the damages done by them to our property beyond that point; they have made one side of our drive so dangerous that a car can slip down 20 feet easily into a ditch. What can we do in this situation? Does anyone have expereince handling a smiliar matter?

I have no idea if this is even the procedure for NC or not, but I got this off of another website for another area, and this sounds like a procedure I'm sure most police departments would follow:

1. date of claim or notification;
2. name, address and telephone number of the person making the claim;
3. date, approximate time, location and police report number (if known) of the incident giving rise to the claim;
4. apparent cause of the loss or damage incurred (to the extent it is known); and
5. nature of damage incurred (i.e. personal injury, property damage, loss or property, expenses incurred etc.);
6. a receipt or invoice for damage incurred

Again, I don't know if the state police department in NC has this type of procedure or not. I'd just do a google search for NC State Police depart. and see if they have procedures listed.
