Hi everyone. Been looking through the posts. Have found Ardmore - specifically 27103. Can anyone tell me of other zip codes/neighborhoods to look in for 1950's, 1960's houses that are in walkable neighborhoods? Thanks!!!

Are you only interested in Winston-Salem, or only the Triad, or other parts of the state? I have run across many mid-century houses in Henderson and Louisburg, however, they probably are not as nice areas as Ardmore. Durham also has many vintage houses in Watts-Hillandale, Duke Forest, and other older areas. In addition the http://www.presnc.org/ web site sometimes lists significant mid-century houses.

^^^Thanks for the reply. I am a Chicagoan, who lived in the Phoenix area, that now lives in the Atlanta suburbs. I am looking for a walkable place with a strong community feel. Just honed in on Winston Salem because I have heard good things about it.

Ardmore is more or less early 20th century era houses. You might look at Buena Vista and beyond around Sherwood forest and Forsyth Country Club...and even Oldtown.
