I'm also planning on moving the the Greensboro area. I'm shooting for next summer, after I finish my grad degree.
What are the education jobs like? I'm going to have my degree in High School Counseling. I'm hoping to land a job as a school counselor, admissions counselor at a college, or, if I have to, settle for a mental health job initially.
Anyone have any input on the jobs I'm hoping to find? I've really just started looking and am trying to gather my informational resources.
You might want to take a look at Winston-Salem, better downtown scene. Greensboro downtown "scene" is just a few meat market type dance clubs for twenty-somethings.
I agree with random. I lived there since 1998, and moved to Charlotte in 2004/2005. I head up there about once a month or so to see some people/work. It has changed for the better, but it is lacking in a lot of areas. It seems to grow stale quickly. If you like going to the same place over and over, like a Cheers type of bar, than it is your place, but it doesn;t have too many exciting things going for it that other cities do not provide. When female friends visit me (it doesn't matter from where) and we go uptown charlotte, they are always amazed on how often they get hit on. There are a lot more things to do in Charlotte (cosmo-ish, more intense, lots of stuff to do all the time) and Raleigh (which, I believe was ranked in the top 5 places for singles by forbes a year or two back, but is kind of a more laid back area).
I always felt that people went to the newest bar, and once something new came along, that bar would become a ghost town. They do have something fun downtown in the summer on thursdays, but most cities do. Cost of living is nice. It is a pretty place, and if you have a dog, there are plenty of places to walk it.
