Construction was supposed to begin this month (October) but a final rendering has not even been revealed yet. "Tanger Performing Arts Center opening 2017" banners have been placed on construction fencing around the site in the beginning of September but there has been no ground breaking news or rendering updates since this time. Just wondering what the delay may be or if anyone has any insight what the hold up may be at this point. This project has already been delayed by a year, so you would think the people in charge would have had everything in order after having a year long delay already. I believe the general public deserves an update on this particular project.
The last news we heard about the project is that they were making cuts in the design to fall under budget. But I agree we should be hearing some news about this now. I know I'm tired of waiting and my patience is wearing thin in regards to seeing the final design.
All construction downtown seems to be at a standstill... 13 story wyndham conference hotel... bellemeade village... and now GPAC, whats going on? only one doing anything at all is lebauer park.
There may finally be a possible final rendering unveiling and construction start date announcement coming shortly. Walker Sanders who is President of the Community Foundation of Greensboro will be hosting a presentation on the "Tanger Performing Arts Center" on Wednesday, December 2nd at the Rotary Club of Greensboro at 12:30.
PAC organizers are looking to close the gap with additional user fees. It appears as though the donors would rather come up with the extra money instead of big cuts that would diminish the quality and design of the facility. They want to get this right however it appears as though opening day will be delayed yet another year while the design is still being finalized...Spring 2018
