I'm new here on city data and want to start my own weather thread. I love forecasting the weather and would like to start my own 7 day forecast for the triad.

Christmas Eve-high 57/ low 34 with heavy rain

Christmas Day-high 55/ low 37 cloudy

Wednesday-high 50/ low 32 rain and ending as wet snow 1-2 inches

Thursday-high 48/ low 27 sunny

Friday-high 49/ low 28 partly cloudy

Saturday- high 44/ low 22 snow 3-6 inches

Sunday - high 42/ low 20 sunny

* For wednesday I am watching the track of the storm it depends on which way it will go, if it moves west of the mountians it will be all rain as for now i'm going out on limb and forecasting snow.

With those forecasted temps the ground will be too warm for snow to stick.

I was thinking that the snow would come down hard enough to stick. As for now it looks like rain with t-storms.

I have lived here all my life and lost count of the times meteorologists wound up with egg on their face with such ballsy forecasts.

I agree with WFW&P, its way to early to predict that heavy of a snow 5 days ahead.

There a couple of issues your calling for 3-6 inches of snow with high that day of 44. If it was to happen it would have to happen at 2 am

Another factor as I havent seen the jet stream map but that has been a factor in snow in the area in the past. A lot of times when snow has been predicted for Triad the jet stream sits over I 40 depends on which side of jet stream in what this area receives.

Another issue with this system is it coming across the mountains. In my entire life here I never remember a heavy snow from a system that comes across the mountains. If they produce snow this area receives less than an inch.

When moisture comes from the gulf converging with a Canadian low or a nor-ester the Triad may see 3 inches or more but that always rare.

If anything I would be concern about Saturday storm is the wind and if its an ice storm then double bad news.

Now of course, I work in VA, and can definitely see a more realistic chance of snow since there was a 4 degree difference in Martinsville as opposed to Oak Ridge. But alas, it's just a heavy, cold, cold rain.

It (whatever it is) starts now.

I had to run by Tajmah Teeter on my lunch break because, no joke, I was out of toilet paper. It was just as nuts as I thought it would be.
