Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 10:23 AM EST on January 25, 2013

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight EST
tonight...

* locations... central North Carolina excluding the far southeast
counties.

* Hazard types... light snow... light sleet and freezing rain...
ending as freezing drizzle.

* Ice accumulations... a few hundredths of an inch up to 0.15 of
an inch of icing... roughly along the Highway 64 corridor.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... generally around an inch
possible... with one to two inches across the far northern
Piedmont.

* Timing... while patches of light snow and or sleet will occur
through 1 PM... the precipitation is expected to Blossom across
the region between 2 and 4 PM. The precipitation will being to
taper off between 7 and 10 PM.

* Impacts... the light snow and sleet accumulations will lead to
slick roadways... especially on bridges and overpasses creating
hazardous driving conditions. In addition... this snow and sleet
mixture is expected to becoming light freezing rain or light
freezing drizzle before ending. Exposed outdoor objects such as
vehicles... trees... and power lines will gain a thin coating of
ice. Parking lots... sidewalks... and steps leading to buildings
will become slick and hazardous. With sub-freezing temperatures
expected through late Saturday morning... slick roadways will not
improve until noon or early afternoon Saturday.

* Temperatures... sub-freezing temperatures leading up to the
event will remain in place during the event. Highs may reach
near freezing in the advisory area. Once the precipitation
starts... temperatures will fall well below freezing. Snow and
sleet accumulations... although light... will have a greater
impact due to the cold surface temperatures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
