Hello,
Me and my wife recently went to Charlotte and the Durham area but didn't get a chance to visit Greensboro. Does anyone recommend Greensboro over the other cities? If so Why? |

I do. Charlotte and Durham seem more rushed to me. They seem to have less of a connection to what NC truly is (small town, Southern charm, slower pace, etc.) than Greensboro does. While Greensboro is NC's third largest city, it still has a small town feel to it. There are areas of Greensboro that are busier than others, but overall it seems calmer to me than Charlotte or Durham. (Or Raleigh and even Fayetteville.) If I remember correctly (and I may not lol), Durham has a higher crime rate than Greensboro.
I do confess though that I've only visited Durham and Charlotte a few times and have never lived there. Someone more familiar with these places could help you more, I'm sure. I've lived in Greensboro for the better part of 15 years and I love it here. I have no desire to ever leave. ![]() |

Niki, I would say your are right on in your assessment ![]() Charlotte is a BIG city now. For those wanting the feel of a smaller hometown Greensboro is great. |

What about the schools in that area? Want to move to your nice state also.

The best schools (safety and scores) are in northwest Greensboro. That's not to say that all the schools in other areas are terrible though. If you go to the Guilford County Schools website, you can check out the safety and scoring records for individual schools.

Greensboro is probably more similar to Durham than it is to Charlotte, as far as comparisons are concerned.

I would pick Greensboro over the others. The other two have more to do, but we can eaisly visit them in a hour and a half. Greensboro just feels more laid back and it shows in the people who live here.

I live in the Charlotte area (Concord) and love it! But I would highly recommend the Greensboro area as well. My extended family and inlaws live in the area. It just depends on what you're looking for. I love being near all the Charlotte area has to offer and the many things to do, but Greensboro just has a different feel. Like the area's just one big suburb (not a bad thing) and some people really like that. Great place to raise a family (my wife was raised there). It's a great area and you should really like living there. Good luck!!!

Hi, we moved to the Greensboro area about 1 month ago and we love it, so far. The kids are in a great school, they made friends very quickly. We find something to do every weekend. I have only been to Raleigh once, so I can't compare, and although Charlotte (Lake Norman area) is beautiful, we preferred this area for our family. Good Luck!!!!
