I've read some posts regarding the Greensboro area schools, but I was wondering if anyone can offer some feedback regarding the best high schools, in particular. We will be moving there soon, and my son will be a junior in the fall. He is an excellent student, well-behaved, and not much into sports. Being a transfer, I am hoping to find a high school where the students are kind, and academics are important. He has spent his elementary and middle school years in private schools and moved to our public system upon entering high school. If possible, I was hoping to keep him in a public setting. Virtual high school is an option, but not our first choice. Thanks for any information and suggestions.

I would look into some of the early/middle colleges in the area. Northwest and Northern High schools are the best rated High Schools.

Thank you Ryans80! Would you know if the possibility exists where you can "out-zone" a student, or are they strict regarding the designated school zones (as they are in Collier County, here in Florida where we currently live). If we weren't able to find a property, right away, within a good school zone, would they allow a student from a neighboring zone to attend that school anyway, providing they find their own transportation (I'm assuming)? Thanks for any insight you may have.

They are strict when it comes to the designated school zones. There are always apartments available that you could rent on a short term basis (3months) until you find a property you are looking for.

Hey OP - Here are the NCLB report cards for Guilford county schools

District Search Results Page

My DD is in elementary school so I don't have any personal information, but I've heard good things about Northern, Grimsley and Northwest High. Grimsley has an IB program and is rather diverse. Northern and more so Northwestern are fairly affluent. There's also the Early College at Guilford which has a lot of accolades although I'm not sure of what the entrance criteria is. Guilford county schools have also just opened up a new early college at UNCG . Best of luck op!
