I've moved here from Dallas TX and I've driven around some of the neighborhoods but is it just me or do the roads here make you dizzy? Anyways, I'm looking for a nice quiet place to rent and would feel a lot more comfortable with some kind of garage (I'm particular about my car). I probably worry about it more than me walking down the street. I was looking north around University and Bethabara. Is that a safe area? I really don't want anyone jacking my car up. I really have no interest in living near the mall, I liked the rurally (is that a word LOL) feel further north.

Thanks
Sara

You might want to check out west and southwest Forsyth County, Lewisville and Clemmons areas. They are some of the most popular suburbs in the county and still have many areas with a rural feel.

It's been a while since I've lived in W-S, but Brownsboro Rd off University seemed to have a lot of crime reported in the paper. There are a lot of apts on that street with sketchy tenants, apparently. As for Bethabara & University, it all depends on the apt complex, I think.

I wouldn't totally rule out University and north, but I agree with the recommendation of west and southwest.

I'm not sure how far North you are willing to go, but the area around University & Bethabara is probably "average" when it comes to crime. Winston in general isn't really going to be anything like a Dallas when it comes to crime.

I would suggest the Rural Hall area. Heck, even the name is rurallish (is that a word?). Maybe even King/Tobaccoville which is only about 15 minutes up Hwy 52 from University Parkway. I would imagine you could find a nice little house with a garage to protect your "baby" and get the rural feel you are looking for.

Good luck!
