Hey all. I am a Paramedic moving to the area to take advantage of the EMTP to RN Bridge programs that are offered in Winston Salem. I am a single mom with 3 teenagers so the school that best fits our needs is going to dictate where we purchase a home.
The minions three:
-Theater brats.
-Violinists.
-AP Courses.
-German Language Classes.
-Japanese Language Classes.
-After School Clubs (Anime, German, Theater Tech, SciFi, Gaming, etc..).
Any help or thoughts would be ever so appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi darth, and welcome to Winston-Salem! I think you'll have no problem finding great schools for your kids. First of all, there is the Career Center, a shared facility that offers all sorts of AP classes, from the usual English, Chemistry, Math, History, etc. to the more rare offerings like Chinese, Music Theory, and Statistics. They also offer honors courses in a wide range of subjects, including Electronic Music, Shakespeare, Japanese, German, and many others. Students normally split time, attending their regular high school part of the day and part at the Career Center. So given that, it makes the decision of which high school to attend and little less daunting because the Career Center is available to all students. There are also several magnet high schools which concentrate in certain curricula. Google Forsyth County NC schools for much more info. And we also have the UNC School of the Arts, which offers a high-intensity, world class arts education.

Generally, these high schools have the best overall reputation:

West Forsyth
Reagan
Mt. Tabor
Reynolds

But that's not to say the other high schools are bad. Even the lower-rated schools can offer good learning environments, so don't rely just on the ratings/scores. You should really take the time to research and visit to make an informed decision.

Good luck with your move, and if you have more questions feel free to ask!

German is taught in the high schools but Japanese is only taught at the aforementioned Career Center. With the Career Center almost every AP is offered. Generally the high schools will have the most common ones (English, US History) while Career Center will have those and less common APs like Studio Art or Chinese.

Reynolds is "the" performing arts high school, but Tabor and West Forsyth have great theatre programs too. (I don't really know about orchestras)
