Move over Winston-Salem...the bright lights are shining on Greensboro..LOL joking

Greensboro based Black Network Television will film a sitcom in Greensboro which will air in urban markets nationally. This week stars such as Kim Fields, Dorien Wilson, and Bern Nadette Stanis came to Greensboro to appear on the sitcom. Kim Fields starred in the Facts of Life as Tootie. Dorien Wilson starred in the 90's HBO show Dream On and Bern Nadette Stanis starred in the 1970s sitcom Good Times as Thelma. The network owners say BNT will one day rival BET.

I'm pretty sure Wilmington snagged that title a long time ago. Miami, NOLA, Atlanta, etc. also have pretty strong cases.

Nice that a show is filming there but let's not get into the hyperbole game of Hollywood East. In NC it's Wilmington.

Miami and Atlanta are far more important to the TV and film industry than most of the east (minus NY and DC).

After Wilmington, it is clearly Charlotte and then Winston Salem going by the NC Film Commission listing of productions and production business/businesses.

BTW Where did the "Hollywood East" quote come from. Would love to see the actual linked article.

^Maybe gsoboi meant "East Hollywood" vs Hollywood of the East?

I would like to see a linked source of where Greensboro was called "Hollywood East" or was intimidated that it could become that.

more on the sitcom being taped in Greensboro. The sitcom will have stars such as Kim Fields. btw....not sure if a national televised sitcom was ever taped in Charlotte or Winston-Salem and the Piedmont Triad Film Commission is based in Greensboro.

If Greenville can by "G-Vegas" why can't Greensboro be "Hollywood East?"

A little more news on the sitcom - Seems sitcom unlikely to happen as city "Balked" at the idea of loaning the production company money when it discovered the owners of the company's house (which was going to be the collateral) already has a second mortgage on it.

Near bottom of article on Greensboro City Council meeting:Shhh: Greensboro council toughens noise ordinance - News-Record.com: Local News

Not really sure how healthy this production company is if there only collateral is a house and it is already mortgaged to the hilt
