I applied for 3 NC state positions on 3/18/13 and I checked the status of them online about 2 weeks ago. Under status, two of them say "application received", but the other one says "most qualified". I am just trying to see what this means in the whole hiring process because I have never seen that before. I am very hopeful, but just wanted to prepare myself. Any insight, please fill me in, thanks

My experience is that state jobs tend to be kind of methodical to their approach with hiring, so you might have to wait a little while before you hear anything. The one that says "most qualified" certainly sounds very promising though. I had applied for a couple of positions at a local college, and neither said most qualified, but that they were under review. I wound up getting interviewed for one of the positions, so I would say that having a status other than "application received" is a positive sign. Good luck!

Hi i just saw your post looking back through, I applied for several state jobs all the ones I thought I was qualified for and I put one in in OCT 2012.. Recieved a call for an interview in Feb. for my 1st interview got called in for a second interview end of March.. got the call that I was offered the job in mid may and actally started on June 17th so it is a LONG process!

I have 2 I applied for. One on 2/28/13 & one on 7/9/13. The earlier one's status has "Application Received", "Min E&E + KSA/Competency Evaluation (Qualified)", and "Most Qualified" under the Evaluation Step & nothing under the status column. I'm not sure if that means those steps have been completed or not, as a previous job I applied for actually had "Qualified" under the status column (didn't end up getting that job, but was top 3). I called the manager of the section and apparently that department is/was under a hiring freeze (however that may possibly be lifted as a result of the budget getting signed by the governor today).
