I will be potentially working in Winston-Salem (or alternatively Chapel Hill) and wanted to know if anyone has recommendations for trying to live halfway to Fort Bragg in Fayetteville where my husband will be working. Siler City maybe? Thank you!
It all depends on how you define "feasible". You'd each have an hour commute, so that means two hours wasted each day, lots of wear and tear on your vehicles, and lots of gas money. But people do what they gotta do--many people commute an hour or more so it's not out of the question. I wouldn't want to do it myself, though.
It is feasible, but as the previous poster said it would be a big chunk of the day commuting. You may want to look at Liberty. It is closer to Winston than Siler City, but your commute will be more congested than his. It is pretty clear down 421 to Fayetteville, but your commute will take you through Greensboro. Also if you end up with a job in Chapel Hill there are several back ways from Liberty to Chapel Hill if you want alternate routes.
IMO I would choose one city and both look for work there. If you do plan to live sort of in the middle, I would recommend Asheboro to avoid heavy traffic.
