Just a reminder to make sure you clear your sidewalks and driveways of snow and ice if there is a reasonable chance others will be using them. Some of the regional laws on snowclearing:

Greensboro & Lexington -- the person living in that home is responsible for clearing the city sidewalk within 24 hours.

Winston-Salem & Burlington -- the occupant has two hours after the snow fall stops to clear the sidewalk. If the snow fall stops overnight, it must be cleared by 10 am.

High Point -- the ordinance allows 12 hours for snow or ice removal.

Dang bubba, sometimes it has taken me, with the help of a few neighbors, 3 days to get out of my driveway, and....there are no sidewalks here abouts. I live in Orange County, an educated section of the state. It's really kinda interesting, a group of fairly well educated people working with chain saws and snow shovels.

Thank goodness I have no sidewalks. I would have to be an outlaw.

The news was saying the liability area is very grey and some insurance companies discourage policy holders from clearing their sidewalks.

How about "clear your sidewalks, it's a great way to not be a turd to your neighbors."

The logic being if you shovel the sidewalk you have assumed liability.
