Let's see, the performing arts center, two hotels (one with conference/convention space), residential, restaurants, amusements (merry-go-round and play area with games in the planned LeBauer Park). The only things that are really missing are retail chain stores and major office space. But at some point even that will eventually happen.
I remember someone talking about this in another thread, but I couldn't find the thread. Looks like the House of Blues is coming to Elm Street in Greensboro. The venue is going to hold around 850 patrons. I don't know how many people your standard House of Blues holds. The last time I went to HOB was at Myrtle Beach back in 2001, and my friends and I saw Everclear in concert. This sounds pretty exciting to me. More cool stuff to see downtown.
Correction: What I've read, House of Blues is not coming to the boro. The owners of this former club have entered into an agreement to be affiliated with the House of Blues Entertainment Group. There is a difference.
If this turns into something that looks like the venue on Sunset Boulevard in WeHo (I've been there..), then Ms. Mayor can say the boro is a big city. I think not.
It may not be House of Blues by name but really it is a scaled down House of Blues drawing the same national acts. Technically it will be a "House of Blues" venue and will seat 850 people. A standard House of Blues can hold 2,000.
LOL I actually posted this rumor a few months ago and some laughed. I was halfway right But whether its called House of Blues or not, this venue along with the future Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts will be attracting some big names in the music industry to downtown Greensboro. As a downtown entertainment destination Greensboro is arriving and this would have been unthinkable for downtown Greensboro 15 or 20 years ago.

Yes, after re-reading that particular article, you are right, the venue itself will not be called House of Blues. Having said that, it's great news for Greensboro and especially the downtown area. Wouldn't you agree?
