As exciting as this is for downtown, this would definitely bring an additional unneeded blow to the Four Seasons area (and the Koury Center). If not for the many events taking place there, I'm certain the mall area would certainly be in more dire circumstances.
True but what is not needed downtown is a convention center as large as the Koury which is about 275,000 square feet of meeting space. A downtown facility needs to be no more than 100,000 square feet which is the size of the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem. A downtown facility can attract the smaller conventions and conferences so that does not compete head to head with the Koury Convention Center.
From the Rhino Times today, “Roy Carroll, the owner and president of the Carroll Companies, which includes the Rhino Times, is going to be making a major development announcement early this week on Twitter.” Maybe the conference/convention center or Eugene Street hotel and office development?

Yup. Don't know what day yet. Previous twitter posts said he had two big announcements. If it's one for this week, my guess is that it either has something to do with the convention center or project 561 is back on track. It's interesting because he mentioned jobs in one of the tweets, meaning if its about project 561, maybe he found an anchor tenant. Its gotta be downtown because he had #downtowngreensboro in the tweet.
It seems like Roy would make the announcement in the Rhino Times in order to get more people to try out the new online format. Or, maybe an old fashioned press conference. Why use Twitter?

What ever Carroll announces via Twitter will likely end up being reported by the News and Record, FOX 8 News and of course the Rhino Times. That's where you'll see the full story. A tweet will only be a few sentences or so which will make people even more curious and look online to read the Rhino Times.
Roy announced on Twitter that he purchased the land at the corner of Hobbs Rd and Friendly Ave from Halpern Enterprises. Will develop “Carroll at Hobbs”. Not downtown, not this time.

Saw that....but trying to figure out if that is a separate announcement. He tweeted two development announcements.

But he also tweeted this: "@TheCarrollCos will have 2 major development announcements and a new job creation announcement in 2019 for Greensboro. #downtowngreensboro"

Thats the tweet I saw. There are actually two announcements. Announcing a land purchase is not a jobs announcement nor does it fit with #downtowngreensboro in the tweet.
