Seems to me clemmons is a suburb for people who work in winston but don't want to pay higher taxes, so it probably would need 4 grocery stores, it's feeding off the energy from W-S, there for it's getting a boost to it's economics, i think.

Meanwhile. Another expansion is happening.

Construction is underway on an $18 million expansion of Greensboro-based hosiery manufacturer Kayser-Roth Corp.'s Burlington plant.

Work begins to expand Kayser-Roth plant - Greensboro - Triad Business Journal

It will add a total of 100 jobs. Not to bad, the more the merrier.

According to City-Data only 18.4% live and work in Clemmons, I'm sure the rest work in Winston.

Was searching for information about potential for light rail use in Greensboro when this thread from 2008 popped up:

is a trolley system (rail) on the horizon for Greensboro?

Has there been any updates since then? The thread mentions a possible corridor along existing Battleground Ave tracks.

It's unfortunate but TJs probably knows better than to step foot in Greensboro after that snobbish rezoning drama.

IMO, TJ's if had looked at QV first they may have possibly avoided the drama of building in area where one could trip and fall and hit 3 grocery stores. Fresh Market had long moved from QV and there wasn't much happening with the more interior spaces.

One of the following is true at Natty Greene Brewery
  • A rocket capsule is being placed
  • A literal drunk tank
  • A 3-D motion ride to be ridden after good consumption the 3-D probably wont happen til ride stops
  • The company is expanding with 5 new ferminters and tank to increase sales by 40%.

Nice article by N&R today on the work Andy Zimmerman is doing downtown...

Creativity fuels urge to elevate city scene - News-Record.com: Business

TLDR version...Preyer Brewing Co. combined with second location of Crafted restaurant, revitalization of Gate City Motors buildings, and The Forge makerspace (will be interesting to see how this and places like the new Co//ab develop).

I wonder what is going on with the proposed 16 story hotel tower downtown? it was already granted a 1.5 million incentive? They seem to be seriously dragging their feet on that project.

Or the project was scrapped or put on hold, even after all that money was dumped into it, seems like(recent) projects around elm do not take off, where as the other side of downtown near the ball park is thriving with a plethora of new developments being built or soon to break ground.

Including that new (underconstruction) A class office building for charles avery Headquarters on Greene street.

Fisher park at Greenway, which topped out not to long ago.

5 acre Bellemeade village which just finished expanding land for the planned lindsay street closure.

and two more office A class office buildings that are being proposed.

That side of downtown is seriously growing FAST!

seems like the only thing happening on elm that is interesting is the state building mixed use remodel.
