Excellent, I like that it will be right behind Central Library too as I've always thought that library was an under appreciated asset here in Greensboro.

LeBauer City Park is coming along nicely. The grand opening is next month and the sculpture over the seating lawn has been raised. I Cant wait to see it lit at night! The park will be open in time for the National Folk Festival. The seating lawn and stage will likely be one of the stage locations for the musical performances.

Other sculptures in major cities designed by the same artist Janet Echelman. The sculpture over the seating lawn in Le Bauer Park will look like these at night. This truly is world class art in downtown Greensboro and is the only such sculpture in the southeastern United States and one of a hand full in the country. Imagine watching a late night concert on the seating lawn with one of these lit above you.

It's funny, I really, really like the sculptural piece-- but in day light it looks like one of those nets you sometimes see at driving ranges or behind home plate at baseball parks-- turned sideways!
Wonder how long it will be before someone tosses a beach ball or other item into the net.

Oh, I'm sure that will be part of daily maintenance because that is how people are. Idiots will most likely try to hurl their trash in there laughing like Beavis & Butthead the whole time.

Art that seems it will only deliver for 50% of its investment.....pretty after dark if you happen to be downtown at those hours of the day. Otherwise, by daylight, you experience what one might feel by walking thru a Duke Power substation, between metal towers and under wires, spurring the impression you're in the path of electrical arcs. It doesn't look pretty, but neither do the renderings I've seen to date of the "PAC."

Actually it doesn't look bad in the daytime. It just looks so much better at night and it will draw many people to the park at night. It won't be something people just happen to see walking by. As for the PAC, the design isn't as bold as I would have liked it to be, but it is a nice design.
