Hello........My husband and I are both retirees and looking to move to Mt Airy area of NC. We would like to purchase a place in Surry County, but we are not familiar with the area..........like which are "good" and which are "bad" areas. Maybe they are all "good" areas. Can anyone give us any info about Mt. Airy, NC? We are moving from MI. I was born in Wilkes County NC and still have few cousins there, but Wilkes has really changed a lot over the years. We visited Mt Airy last summer and spent one night and fell in love with the laid-back, small town atomosphere. My husband loves the mountains also. We have found a few manufactured homes with land for sale in Mt Airy that we liked the looks of online, but we are concerned about the different communities around the area. We would appreciate any help we can get with info about the area.
